Read about this portfolio in Coast Views, December 2003, and find this conventional photograph particularly exciting because it conveys and meets the challenges of the natural world. The rich tonal range in the sand and the delightful branching figurative reflection patterns prompts taking a moment to register favorable notice. Capturing the natural world always raises questions as to whether the photograph matches reality as to color, for example, and often have the feeling the record falls short, just not as lively. Better to err slightly on the side of under correction as here than over correction or wrong correction, but still feel that this is an area where improvement can be found.
Hi Mike; I really like this kind of semi-abstract nature shot, and this one is excellent-- wish I'd taken it;>)-- that little piece of sand really makes the photo special. --was busy last night with about 200 quilt pictures to deal with-- many photo files and CDs to write to-- hope to get back on track tonight.
