Thanks Leigh :) Tho, I'm really not into staged pictures like that.. I just kind of take them as life provides the opportunities.. >Also it might be neat to have him pluck one string >and then see if you can catch it's vibration with >this slow shutter speed. I was trying to go for this with "Pluck" (http://www.usefilm.com/image/237634.html), but Nick was so into the song that I couldn't get him to sit still while I took the pictures.. but, that's good for the music, right? ;)

Stacey- I like these shots very much. I do like how you captured the dynamic nature of the player. I also like the warm light. I wonder how it would look in an artifically lit situation, like if the rest of the room was dark and you just had one spot of light coming onto the strings? Just an idea for next time...
Also it might be neat to have him pluck one string and then see if you can catch it's vibration with this slow shutter speed.
This looks like a neat thing to try, maybe I will get my husband to sit for some similar shots!

Thanks Sandy :) All of the pics in this series were taken with natural light (I'm thinking of noting that in the pic info). It was a gorgeous day (for being mid October in SW Washington) and I opened up the garage door and let the sun shine in ;) In this pic (and also in "A"), Nate had his back to the garage door and I was afraid that he would be too backlit and the pics wouldn't come out.. but the photo faerie was smiling on me that day :Y

Thanks for the great comments :) Those are my thoughts exactly Heather.. I have taken many still shots of the same friend playing guitar and they just never looked right to me. When I discovered that my digital camera blurs if people are moving too much (a curse when trying to take pictures of my toddler), I tried it out on my friend, Nate here.. and all of the shots just came out perfect (in my eyes) :) Stace

The warm light is very pleasing to the eye. I love the motion. I think it is strange to shoot a picture of a guitar player caught in still action. Guitar players get into the music and move so much. You portrayed the moment perfectly. Great job. Regards, Heather
