Not a great photo but a great off license! This is in compton street london and stocks every type of vodka, absynth and obscure liqueur known to man!! The sheer quantity of colours and shapes make this an interesting shot but its taken with no flash and no tripod (shop full of customers) so its not of the highest quality.
I just like it because its the only place you can get that peligrino drink that tastes like Kinny (maltese soft drink).
It might just be the alchoholic in me, but the first thing I noticed was the Kahlua on the 2nd top shelf, relatively hard to find in the UK. I'll have to make a note for when I get back as the local Sainsbury's stopped selling it.
Charlie, any comparison to Andreas Gursky would be flattering, In fact I have another shot (attached) which I had a split second to get before people started walking past so I'm far from happy about clarity, exposure and composition, so I've never posted it here. It's a similairly confusing mass of colour and could be described as being a poor imitation of a 'gursky-esque' approach to colour and form. I post it here for amusement purposes (it really is terrible!)
Thanks for the feedback Charlie and also to Peter for leaping to my defense.
dear andrew, that came as a relief that you classify this as not so good. it is more like you describe, a sort of document, than a picture. at the first glance i was afraid to see you try the gursky way. will you go there again and try to compose some perspective close-ups? that could be fun to see the details lined up over the labels. regards charlie.f.kohn@sixpence-pictures.com // madrid
