This crab spider is waiting under the flower petal for a unsuspection visitor to the flower. Once the visitor has landed the spider will dart from under the petal and grab the prey. Although the scene may be beautiful this is animal behavior at the basic level, survival of the fittist.
What draws me the most is the backlit hairs on the green parts of the flower. Thanks for the info - very interesting. As a student, I'm curious why the background is so blurred at the f/8 setting. On a digital camera, wouldn't that give the most depth of field? Nice shot!
