About Welcome to my first experience shooting with Velvia! This was taken near Mammoth Springs in Yellowstone Park. This hot spring cone has seen it's place in many photos. I picked this particular angle because I could see the profile of an old man's face in the rock. Can you see it too? And, my timing was lucky as a cool storm was moving in while I was there.

Great capture. I do see the profile. Good eye. Nice blue sky. I am getting ready to shoot some velvia this fall. Looks like you had some good luck with your first try.

An old man, you say? Looks like haggis to me. The combination of on coming storm clouds, blue sky and sunlight is magnificent. Oh yeah, if I squint a little I can make it out, looks a little like my grandfather when he took his false teeth out. --Jim

Carol; a bizarre and interesting rock-- and I DO see the old man's face you mention-- good title. This is a cool shot, especially w/ the sky you captured. I've been to Yellowstone a couple times, but didn't have time to root around much. This rock looks "other worldly". Thanks for looking at and rating my Alpen Glow photo. Cheers. Craig

Yes, I can see the face . . . very cool. I find myself a bit torn between focusing on the rock or the sky. Do you have any shots that focus more on each?
