Our bus stopped in the middle of nowehere at about 4500m on route to potosi(bolivia), just one house, mountains and dirt! Saw one little guy just playign in t he dirt so went and sat with him and started drawing pictures of animals in the sand . The 3 girls who started off peeping over the wall in the background, cautiously made their way over. They were to shy to even tell me their names, but laughed when i drew a picture of a cow in the sand ,and nodded enthusiastically when i asked if i should draw a fat cat. It wasnt until i i was walking back to the bus , that one of them plucked up the courage to shout 'chau' and waved. I waved back and then they all waved and smiled. Its moments like these that really make travelling!
hi elangs, good to be back! thanks for comments, you are right fill flash is soemthing i havent explored , but still learning and theres some great teachers here!
Good to see you back Nathan. Hope you had nice time with your travelling. Wish you the best with your career. I couldnt find your email id and hence I leave my note here.
Regarding this image : IMO, fill flash would haved a great touch here.
A sweet portrait of these three little girls - what a hardscrabble life they must live! They all show their shyness in the same way, with their right hand to their mouth, which adds an unexpected symmetry here. I like that you included some of the rough buildings in the background, giving them a better sense of location. My only problem with this shot is that the features of your subjects are in such deep shadow! I think it would be very much worth your time to pop this into an image editor and bring those dark areas out. This must have been a wonderful trip!
