I'll have to say that while the subject is well-chosen the capture is not as good as it could be. The image has too much softness to it for such a detailed subject. I know for fact that the 10D will render greater sharpness than this shows. Either camera shake or the focus being off slightly is evident here. If you are hand-holding your camera you should spend the extra effort by taking and using a tripod for everything that doesn't move and even for subjects that do. Yea, it's not always convenient but the results will be lasting. A tripod will allow you to always use maximum aperture and ISO speed (100). So what if the shutter is 1/4 sec or slower...you have a TRIPOD!
For Roger: yes, more and more photographers are turning to the Canon 10D. It's the least expensive of the 6mp DSLRs and one of the better ones out there although any of them will get you excellent results. Those excellent results require knowing how to use one and owning and using a tripod. ;-)

Such nice formations! The quality of the sand is really beautiful, I can feel the softness of it just by looking!

tranquil and calming. akin to some zen images. simple and effective with great composition. that rock in the midst of the water and sand complement the rest of the image. i think that the rock is stable with the sand and the water shifting and changing perspective.

Wow - excellent, striking image, Nick! I love the 'subject inside a subject' and the amazing amount of detail in this shot. The blueish color of the rock is a great, subtle accent to the otherwise sepia tones. This goes into my favorites.
