About Here we go again, more wet feet and the odd impromptu shower. This is three balloon popping photographs joined together, mainly because I only have two hands, one to fire the camera and the other to throw the dart. A balloon is filled with coloured water to which I add vegetable food dye. Balloon is suspended by a piece of string. Camera is placed on tripod, throw dart with one hand, fire camera with other hand. Easy really, after about five hundred attempts you just about get the hang of it. If you try this you must throw the dart yourself as it almost impossible to react in time to let someone else throw it. Also it is better to inflate the balloons with water and leave them a couple of days first, this tends to take the elasticity out of the rubber and they don't burst so rapidly, giving you an extra couple of millionths of a second to capture your photo. Ah well just 'popping' out to the garage again for another soaking.

Another amazing shot. People probably think you're nuts, but who cares when you get something like this.

A thought - might it be possible to set up an IR trigger to trip the shutter?

One little "nit pick" Ted. Now that I look at it again, I think I would like it more if the darts were a solid color instead of a pattern. Just my preference. Still added to my favorites.

PROFESSOR HAROLD EDGERTON I presume! Interesting work you are doing. http://www.cordin.com/index.html This is a link to the ultimate in modern high speed photography. Sequences of pictures of a grenade exploding. Don't try this at home.

Very creative shot from you again. But poeple doesen't understnad what contains this photograph from the thumbnail i guess. I think this is the one explanation about number of comments and views.

Especialy the timig of the green baloon is amazing, look at the water.. Just waiting to fall.

Bravo again..

So creative, colourful, interesting and original! Very good! By the way, I smiled when I read your presentation! I'm swedish and live in Sweden with my boyfriend who is from England, so we go there quite often to his parents and relatives etc. And whe then live in Berkshire! Not where you, but in Burnham, I guess it's quite close! :-)

First of all a question on the technique: can't you use continuous shooting and have somebody help you ? :)
I think this is a wonderful picture and I am surprised it only got 3 comments so far. The colors work well together and on the black baground. The reflection looks nice as well. The only thing I don't like and keeps it away from a perfect score is the presence of the darts. I appreciate the fact that you didn't clone them out with photoshop, though. There also seem to be just a little too much light on the left baloon
Bye,Luca
