I love this Portrait. The lighting is beautiful! I'm not very good at words..but the picture really seems to tell a story. I'm reminded of the novels I use to read-love-that took place in maybe say the late 1800's or so. I'm not great at history..the man's clothing makes me think of late 1800's the ladies clothing makes me think of the 1920's. Anyway, love that lighting!
As for the PS technique..hmmm..the blurred out part behind the man's head seems to bring him away from the wall and gives the picture a 3-d kind of look. I'm not great at PS..but I think I would have blurred all the way around the man's head and then cut and paste some more of the brick wall to the top and side? Takes a little practice but IMO that would work?

yes I did. I recently realized that viewfinder viewing area is different from what shows up in the frame. I had to add a little bit of room at the top in PS. I am not very good at that.... :(

Cool split lighting on the man's face ;) Did you blur the left side of the wall ? This is a great image imho.
