About This is an image of a wild bird taken at Lake Martin, Louisiana. It's not too often you can approach a wild Egret and get this close. Subject distance was about 8 feet.

To answer Bob's Question on how I was able to get so close. I was shooting some immature Black Crowned Night Herons when this Egret
came along feeding in my direction. I just sat still and he approached to within about 8 or 9 feet from where I was. Sometimes
you just get lucky.

Great close up. Nice detail. In fact he needs to clip that one hair on his head.

Super shot. Unbelievably sharp - probably has a lot to do with how close you were.

I'm curious - were you able to slowly approach the bird, or were you still and did the bird come to you?
