Many thanks John. I always try to get the right backgrounds for florals BUT my wife watches her orchids like a hawk. There is a new one in the conservatory and I have just remembered an old trick I used for altering the setting without moving the plant. Thank you again for your great in depth comment. Best wishes.

Good placement of the plant in the frame, which starts from the corner and fills the frame. Maybe a darker background to proteimotero was mainly due to the low contrast with almost white outer petal
The small aperture gave strong focus literally in the center of the basic flower in the center of interest.

Thank you Nessa, I am sooooooooooo pleased to see you. Some of my wife's friends have difficulty growing them and occasionally they bring them round to her to 'hospitalise' them :) Heather seems to have the greenest of fingers and currently we have four plants in flower with several more 'resting' I think the conservatory agrees with along with Heather's love. It is a kind of developing tool from Nikon for raw and jpeg images. I just did only autolevels and I noticed your values were just about right. I love the image a lot dear Ray.
