This is an amazing photo, Dave. The motion blur on those wings is just perfect, and the depth of focus and colour contrasts, too. I don't usually bother to "rate" pictures, as almost everything seems to end up with near perfect sevens (what happened to "average" I wonder?) but this one richly deserves a "7."

Hi Guido, thanks for the comment! Assiniboine Park is a large outdoor park in Winnipeg, and these shots were taken in it's "English Garden" section. This is a female ruby throated hummingbird, the only variety native to Manitoba. There are other Hummingbirds in warmer parts of the country such as British Columbia. I understand in the tropics there are many more brilliantly coloured species of hummingbird, which we would never see here.
