Hi Marana, it is used in my country as part of food ,and as a herbal drug, and it was known here for more than thousand year, it is as you said added to mainly bread,cheese,and some pastries,as medicine the locals use it as an oil preparation for respiratory tract sicknesses, as a mind and memory stimulant,as antidepressant,and as whole body stimulant. in fact they use it in nearly every sickness as an assistance to the medical treatment, my best wishes. It's about nigella sativa seeds, that are used, at least from what I have seen in tunisian or lebanese cuisine, to give a special taste to bread. However, in Romania, the only way I can see those seeds used, and very rare I must say, is to give a special taste to cheese (fresh, salted, dryed sheep cheese) Thank you so much, regards, Marana.
