Only a butterfly, but still sad to see them in this state, especially knowing what they look like in their prime.

Now this one is just perfect to me, Dave! No "buts" and no "ifs", only perfect! The whole subject of the macro in excellent crispy focus and stunning details with no pixelation at all! I really wanted to play the devil's advocate and looked at the antennae, hoping to find some pixelation there. Nothing! Completely sharp but also smooth contours!

Your Kung-Fu in macro photography evolves to the highest quality levels, Dave! I think that many publishing houses would be really really wishing to use this image!

Great!

Nick

I have personally seen some butterflies flying around with most of the scales missing from the wings. Loss of scales WILL change the aerodynamics of the wings, however, so dramatic loss of scales will change the flight pattern a bit, these kind of butterfly above can live from 1
week to 9 months... Well seen and captured Dave, riny

A sad sight Dave but beautifully photographed with lots of great details in the tattered wings and lovely natural tones. Well done to you my dear friend. My very best wishes as always.......Ray

Yes dear Dave this butterfly seems to be battered...
Poor insect indeed... Nature is cruel and implacable :(
Of course this could happen to humans too , yet without doubt it will happen , sooner or later .

After this philosophical disquisition... I can let you know my opinion on your macro.

GREAT CAPTURE.Nice colors.Perfect closeup shot.

Congrats.

cheers
