About
An image of an old home near a river. It's fallen into extreme disrepair and is being taken back by mother nature. I blame Anthony for this one. ;) I saw his wonderful hillside image and I was forced to mess with the PS filters and this seemed like the one to try it on. I used levels, color balance, dry brush, and NeatImage to mess with this one. A bit too "painterly", for me but interesting.
I did too Anthony. I had driven past this old place quite a few times over the years and finally took time to pull off the road and take a photo. I don't know the current state of it but it wouldn't surprise me if the chimney has fallen in by now. You see a place like this and wonder what it looked like and who lived there 50 or 60 years ago. It sets across a river from the highway where the image was taken.
This is fascinating. I find this building compelling - the clumps of moss and crooked chimney stack add to its appeal. Your third image is reminiscent of a painted illustration from an old fairytale book. I love it actually, although I'll be attacked for my blasphemy, no doubt. I think my motto from now on will be: "If you have demonstrated you know the (classical) Rules, by all means break them". You obviously know them Randy, so I'd 'fire at will" as it were haha!
Here is one photo that Neat Image will not work on. It adds a "painterly" effect instead of reducing noise. Really strange. I guess it can't sample this image accurately. Weird isn't it. I like this version better than the dry brush effects.
This is the untouched original with ONLY NeatImage used for enhancement.
Eeek Randy. In my monitor at least these greens look odd. I want to see more details of that fascinating building too. What settings are you using for the Dry-Brush? For God's sake don't be influenced by my crude attempts at PS - you are a landscape artist of real merit, and I'd feel rather upset if I dragged you down, unwittingly, to my level!
