Thanks Zeljko, glad you liked this one. A really nice old building with fun details. I was on the observation deck of the Empire 2 years ago. Nice view of the city from there. I stayed in the New Yorker while I was there. Had a great time.

Thanks a lot for the info, Stan! I thought you meant another time of the day when the sky had changed, when you talked about "another sky".

The transition to the sky worked really excellently! I couldn't (and still can't) see any kind of artefacts that would indicate such a replacament by pasting. Really, very very well done and with care for all small details for a good image.

Quite contrary to "just smudging around" this kind of digital imaging is a good hint for care and knowledge of photography.

Cheers!

Nick

Thanks Nick, actually this sky was from another image that I used in this one to make the building more dramatic against the sky. I had taken it late afternoon for the light but the sky was not great. I just pasted a new one in as an experiment to see if I could get a decent transition between the 2 images. I love the old plaster and details of it with the shadows and highlights of the light on it. I think the angle just limited what was in this shot. Thanks for the detailed comments and thoughts, always appreciated.

Extremely dramatic and still natural on the region of the sky and that tower, Stan! The idea for that angle was great! The colors and the light on the walls stand in a very strong but also pleasant contrast to the sky. I think also that the time to shot that was perfect, considering the clouds. Without them it wouldn't have such an impact, I guess.

The details and textures are exactly defined with only some tiny pixelation on the contours which in this case is almost invisible. But even more than that I find the certain kind of "haze" very effective that seems to turn the tower a bit more "airy" or "inreal" if you like. I don't know what it is and how it was generated, but doesn't the tower look a bit "sub-glowing" or as if it was some "fata morgana"? I find the result fascinating this way.

I am only a but ambivalent about the inclusion of that part of the building at the bottom right. I don't know it id good or bad, but I guess that there was simply no other way from that angle.

Cheers!

Nick

Thanks Shirley, as a builder I just love places like this. I found a way to change the sky on the web and gave it a try. I really liked the extra punch this sky gave it. I want to be good like you someday!! My best, Stan

Thanks Ania, this is a great place to visit and the hot springs are very nice. Also an outdoor natural heated pool as well as pools for women and men. Swimsuits are optional in the indoor pools. Makes a great place to recover from stresses of life.

Hi Ray, I have been playing around with some of the photoshop tutorials I have found on the web. This is a good link for you to look at and see what I did. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pE7520fziRs I think it is simple but very easy to get good results in a short time. This building has many possibilities and is fun to walk around and enjoy it's many angles.

Great perspective and a truly wonderful crop/composition with the building placed against the sky. Your postwork again is excellent Stan and I wish I knew how to substitute one sky for another as I have often rejected shots due to grey skies. You increased the visual value of your work with this dramatic skyline. Well done to you my friend. All the very best......Ray

Thanks Brigitte, I am a sucker for towers and I love plaster walls with heavy textures. This was a late afternoon shot and had some good light breaking through the clouds. Good to catch up with you.

Wow, that is a very neat architectural shot with very interesting colors, lines and textures. I love the angle you used. The sky and patterns in the clouds really complement the patterns on the walls. Impressive shot, Stan... and you handled the lighting very well... it looked like it would be a difficult shot. Bravo! :-)
