this is excellent. i cannot say why this gesture feels so powerful here, but the flares certainly add to that power. it is as if the hand is throwing coins into the water, or receiving them back from it. and the row of trees receding to the left is beautiful. color is perfect as well. the washed-out reddishness lends the picture an air of having long been forgotten at the back of a drawer. and i see by the date that this may in fact be so. beautiful.
