Hello Bazil Raubach! Thank You for Your response. I understand You very well as I am sure we make similar mistakes. I hate to be under pressure and it shows in the pictures, but I love photography for the experience. The dash was shot handheld after sunset and it is shakey, but I felt it was one of the best shots I took that day and that's why I posted it. You are wellcome to write Your comments, harsh critiques as long as You mean what You say. Thanks again. Mirek Towski
Well Mirek ( No kidding the lighting is really bad. I have a hard time to find a part of that dancer that is no blurry. )
Send me your email address and I will send you an original and you'll find there is a lot more in focus than you think!
His face, skirt, and bead necklace are in fact in sharp focus - I shoot with a D300 and pushed my ISO way up.
I shoot for a newspaper so the process sometimes hides faults, but the lighting was turgid at best, and that's the thing about shooting in these environment – almost nothing works for you, but the editor still expects and image in tomorrow's paper. There is nowhere to hide.
I see in your 'Durbar dash' image you had a fair number of challenges but with advantage of decent light it also looks SOFT but again when you upload youo can't see the high end detail and a image can suffer because of that.
Try shooting at 11.30 in a venue that's far too small and inadequate light, now that's a challenge.
Thanks for your response and your comments.... always appreciated. Bazil
