I am trying to learn a little about small insect macro photography, so any helpful comments will be appreciated. This was an ant about 1/4 inch long and he really didn't like having his picture taken, he kept moving to the opposite side of the stem. One of the fascinating aspects of this kind of macro photography is the texture of the plants, that I have never seen.
Really nice photo, Jim. No complaint from me about the ant's sharpness. It's perfect, in my eyes. I'm way impressed with your 602! The DOF is just right to totally capture the ant and blur the surrounding leaves. Good job!
My camera can't handle this small subjects, so I can't come up with any good suggestions. But I think this shot is excellent! Very interesting and detailed! Maybe just a little bit strong light. About being still... Maybe you can put a bread crumb or something in front of it and make it occupied for a little while? That would be an interesting shot too, to see what it does with it.
Hello Jim, You have succeeded very well in photographing this difficult of type macro. Insects are always moving, so you must have a lot of patience. The composition and lightning are great. Congrats with this beautiful photo.
