Looks as if you had a productive time in NY, photographically speaking... a great series (not enough time to comment on them all, alas). This would be a good place for a spherical panorama and VR viewer!

Thanks Paolo. And I think you are right - I considered B&W but felt the warm glow of the lights and the colours of the flags justified keeping it in colour.

Excellent interior AJ, perfect wide frame with clear details at everywhere... even in the deeper areas of the image or on the roof's details really excellent shot, and very very good exposure too, so you get enough light BUT you get also the warmness of the lighting!

Just to clarify, Ray: Lightroom is not a total replacement for PS - PS (or in my case PSP9) may still be required for specific tasks. Before settling on Lightroom I evaluated several systems including Bibble and Gimp.

Thanks for the info AJ, I will try to get better acquainted with Lightroom in due course. I have a friend who dabbles with another alternative to PS but I cannot think what it is called. I will let you know about this next week as friend Steve is with us on Tuesday. I will leave a note to myself to remind me as I have an attrocious memory due to too many things going on in my life I guess. Catch you soon my friend.....All the best.....Ray

Ray: I am more than happy to get into discussions like this and do what I can to encourage them on UF.
Lightroom is a development of RawShooter that was originally developed by Pixmantec. I used to use RawShooter for processing RAW images (along with PSP9) and was somewhat disappointed when Pixmantec got bought by Adobe. I was particularly worried about the bloat that I feared Adobe would add. But I must say that I am quite impressed with what they have done. All the essential elements of RawShooter are still there, and the RAW workflow concept has been taken several steps further.
You still need to use Photoshop or whatever (my preference remains PSP9 for the time being) for specific adjustments, but I am finding that LR is handling routine tasks in an intuitive way. Nevertheless, it has taken some thought and reading of online literature to get an efficient workflow set up.

Hi there AJ. I've heard of lightroom but haven't had any experiences of it, so it's great to meet someone who uses it. I use the Canon programme for most of my fiddling around in raw, other than that I use Photoshop CS2 though I hate messing around too much with it. My playtime with Photoshop ended way back on PS 6 or 7. Tell me more about Lightroom anytime you get enough spare time. Cheers AJ, 'see' you soon, take care and best wishes......Ray

Thanks Ray. It is a pleasure to receive comments such as this.
Not exactly hand-held, but not on a tripod either, just rested on a balustrade. (NYC seems to treat tripods as lethal weapons and they are confiscated by even the most junior security jobsworth.) Shooting RAW is great for avoiding localised burn out. I've been evaluating Lightroom 2 (among others) and it provides excellent tools for dealing with such issues.

A very busy concourse my dear AJ taken on a fairly long exposure and hand held I'll bet and looking very good indeed. There is a good mix of blurry people on the move and those who are static. The existing lighting, a little daylight but mainly artificial, hasn't burnt out and illuminates the scene perfectly. Down in the bottom right there is a man running, how late is he? There's a group of people, what are they talking about? There is so much interest in your composition my friend, well done. As always my very best wishes to you......Ray

Many thanks, txules. Interesting comment about the white balance - it is already adjusted to 3150, well towards the cold end of the spectrum without going blue. I could push a little more, although I quite like the warm feel.

AJ, everything is right except white balance, I think is too warm, (did you check it?) it could be very easy to correct in your Raw file; your new stuff made a wonerful job though (no visible noise, and beautiful details even at 1/5, wow) un abrazo querido amigo....txules
