Many thanks for your comment, Ivona. Actually, once it's all set up, it's relatively easy to rattle these off and I find that I can get quite a lot of acceptable results each session. It's thinking up and putting together the setup that takes the time!

Thanks John. And as you suspected, the surface is glass, not liquid. The big circle is a thin film of liquid from the first drop. What you don't see is the "added ingredients": a little food colouring for the tone, washing up liquid for the viscosity, black card under the glass and blue card in the background...

Beautiful... and I mean both the drop's shape and the color difference between that red color of the water against the grey of the water or... could be glass texture and not water? :-) Stunning... Love the details at the big circle at the bottom... with the tiny - almost hairy - drops that goes spread around, superb...

Many thanks, Txules, especially for taking the time for some ideas for improvement. All valid points, although I expressly left the tilt as I felt it complemented the slightly off-centre composition. The background caused me no end of problems as there were uneven shadows. The halo and noise are probably left over from the clean-up, but will not be fully resolved until I get a chance to reshoot (which unfortunately is unlikely to be for a while...)

this looks really impressive, no idea how to critic this because technics are far beyond my knowledge; I'd just suggest, correct the tilt, clean the noise/dust at the bootom and perhaps the white halo surrounding the drop at the top; but anyway, I repeat, fantastic piece
