The place i am standing with the camera is on an asphalted road. At right of it is a wadi with water. There is a small iron pipeline feeding the tree with water. Near the wadi are more younger trees, some with pink flowers. I think it may be an baobab tree.

this is a giant tree for such a locality,I don't know if I am right or not ,it seems that half of the tree having green leaves ,and the other half have very little,I agree with you about social, but not spiritual function, and if you look to all the land ,you will see no other tree even at the mountains,I think because of its rarity they kept it as the single tree in the area from old time, all this is a speculations until proved or disproved, thank you dear Harry for this photo, Saad.

Paul, yes, I brought me a mineral book with me. But I was not trained and only found "fools gold". The whole Saudi peninsula is tilted so this part is lifted upwards. I have asked a local Saudi man to help and find more about the tree.
What can you say abput the layered sediments ?

Impressive old tree with interesting layered sediments on the background. I like the composition and would like to know more about this particular tree, vriendelijke groet, Paul

Guido, Somebody told me that a tree with a outer measure of 3 meters would be 800 years old. I estimate this tree at 6 to 8 meters outer measure. I am not an expert but if the tree were 1400 years old I would also believe it.
