About Construction of a water reservoir in a wadi near Riyadh. In fact I stand on top of the barrier, dam. When you look well upside you can see a white car and a man. From that point a staircase is leading down to the left lower corner. It gives an idea of the dimensions :-)

On this one the very small angle of the pole and the construction with the purely vertical orientation makes it *look* accidentally unlevelled, Harry. This small angle is identical for both the pole and the construction and it is about 1° counter clockwise. The simoultaneous deviation is registered as "need for rotation" ny mind no matter if it perhaps was really so in reality. Simply because it is considered automatically not as the wish of the photographer to have some different angle of view, since the deviation is so small, and also because many edges of ojects show exactly the same small deviation from verticality. Such is perception.

The attachment looks levelled though of course perhaps it doesn't correspond to reality.

Cheers!

Nick,

Yes, the look is strong, with the latest slides i tend to make it look more natural. Rotation to the left i could do but in this country in 1982 it is har to say what is levelled and what not. Lamp posts usually are not reliable when seeking a certical reference. A piece of lead and a corde is.
So what is levelled in this image ? Unable to say.

Cheers

What I find most attractive here is its sence of aged (not abed ;-)) look and feel under the perhaps muddy but powerful colors. The add a very good impact to the strength of details and textures of stone both on the main object as also on the background, which by the way fits perfectly.

Since there has been much post processing, why not a small rotation to the left too? The composition has some "unfinished" touch on the edges. But in this case perhaps it is also better this way as it makes it somewhat "disorganized" like the irregular stone patterns at the depth.

Cheers!

Impressive architecture place... looks like a monument and... somehow the letters on it I believe they...dont't write something nice for that area... perchaps I have that fealling because into my place there are lot of statues and simbols that people write on them bad things... anyway, nice strong tones here.
best regards!

Nice documentary Wolf,
Graffiti in SA. What could be the message her? I can't read Arabic.
All your efforts to bring something back from the past. Very much appreciated also that you tell how you did.
