What a cute and funny photo, Tony. Too bad the texture of the dog almost blends into the background.

nice tone and composition...only the dog kind of blends in to the point that you can't see him too well...i wonder if a little dogding and burnding would help...

No - if you crop off the top dog you are certainly not left with an "ordinary" dog shot! It would be full of artistic merit, and very different from any of the many dog shots that appear here... It's the look, the textures and the way the dog blends into the background that grab my attention.

I don't know what anyone else thinks but in my opinion,if you crop off the top dog you are left with a rather ordinary dog shot which lacks a context-although, I agree he has a lovely expression!I like the way they are looking in opposite directions and feel that the darker dog acts as a stop and brings back ones attention to the expressive dog and at the same time gives one a feeling of scale and situation....now I'm going to read your latest comment and Skype my Liverpool fan sister about the brilliant match I've just watched! Looks like I'm going to be disagreeing with you again, Tony! I love the way the "main" dog merges into the background. But for me, the "top" dog is a distraction.

Cropping off the top, I find this is a wonderful image: the curly hair and the soulful look are superb.

Hope you don't mind my honest opinions, and I'll be very happy if someone convinces me I'm wrong...
