Hi Avi, for cleaning the sensor i use two types, both by visible dust: a brush for dust and a liquid for smear; it works fine. For checking dust just take a picture of a pure blue sky, use a small aperture and underexpose a bit, you will see the dots very clearly; take several pictures in different sky areas and you will notice that the dots are in the same place; easy

there are at least 4-5 spots for sure, I know because i have same problem many times and dots are dots every time :)
now I'm in Mexico, my winter vacations, and come back to Spain in 15 days; I'll check then
