Nice use of DOF. I like the detail. I don't like the composition and lighting as much as the detail and DOF. It is a nice capture though. I like to see things cropped tighter when possible and if it fits but that is more emotional appeal I think. Nice job! The hot spots of lighting could be in a better location to make it stronger in my opinion. I also know uncontrolled subjects are not easy to make the perfect image all the time either!!! So NICE capture and thanks for sharing the image to view.

call this a decisive moment.. birds are very jumpy.. and do not sit at one position.. you need a very high speed ultrasonic lens.. and auto focus is best for you to get a beauty as the above shot.. I tried taking shots of birds in kauai.. there are full of them.. and they never sit at one spot.. even for a second.. they are constantly moving around.. and are very colorful and small.. I do have a 2x teleconverter and a 300mm lens.. effectively 600mm.. unfortunately due to the teleconverter.. i am forced to resort to manual focus with one stop less..
