your studies of nature have that kind of direct approach and detail that let the specator feel like a witness of the scene, Dave! Really that bird could not be captured in a way that enhances more it's own character. It looks not only real, but much more than that. It looks like having a soul.

Not necessary to speak about technical details for such an image!

Excellent!

Nick

These are fun birds to film. There is a couple hand out around my boat. They have a wide range and are found most everywhere. I was surprised they are a major problem around here for people who have gold fish ponds. They can clean one out is nothing flat. I like the way you caught it walking.

Hi Dave,
Yeah, when it comes to wildlife, I envy people like Marcus, Darlene Boucher, Yamil and some others I can name. Their images look like they come so prepared for every shoot. Myself... I often grab what comes my way, often rushing in case the bird takes off. :)
I always find when I specifically go after wildlife, the images are almost always better than the "chance" images.

This is one very determined bird! It means business! Great capture, Dave! Well...they like the grassy areas, difficult to get them in a different background! It has lovely patterns on the feathers!

You're right, Andre! Sometimes we just get so caught up in trying to get a few good shots we forget to experiment a little to come up with something better!
Dave.

Hi Dave,
You caught this Great Blue in an interesting pose. There is one thing that I'm not really fond of with this shot and it is the same thing that happens to me with most of my Heron images. They always seem to ge themselves in an area where it is very difficult to isolate the busy background from the bird. Next time I take one of a Great Blue myself, I will try make sure I get a manual DOF setting. I'm thinking maybe to do this one the way I'm trying to explain might mean using f2.8 @ 1/000. What do you think?
