Hi Humphrey Thanks again for the fine comment (and all the others you've given). This was pure luck, driving along a steep path cutting through a clump of Black Wattles I noticed the eyes. There was no clear path through the foliage and the sun was from behind making it very tricky. It was close enough though so I used the litle on-board flash of the Nikon to fill in. Not perfect at all but clear enough, especially in the light of the difficulty to find these guys. Regards. Joggie (I had a quick glance at your portfolio on webshots and I am highly impressed with the many outstanding wildlife photos! Since I am involved with the digital slr's I never had a real chance to get to the kalahari, kruger or other mayor parks, except to Addo lately from which I will post some in the near future. As soon as I can find moe time I will register at webshots and give some comments! How do you find the Usefilm site? From my first glance at webshots, I thought that Usefilm was much more orientated towards the amateur and serious photographer than webshots - If you do a search you will even find Michael Buselle on Usefilm! I would suggest you click on the featured photos, editors choice etc. to check out the most prominent photographers to start of with or do a search under the recent images according to your choice of subject.

Lovely picture of a very wide awake looking owl that one seldom has the chance of seeing close up. The very similar Spotted Eagle Owl that was fairly common here in Port Elizabeth is being decimated by the widespread use of rat poison.

Fantastic capture, Joggie. And I am impressed with the find, too. I hear owls all the time but have never managed to find them. And to think that not only were you able to find one but with such great light, his attention on you, etc.
Good deal!
Dave
