Thank YOU Doyle for your Super comment and lesson...It is appreciated and I do love the b+w tones soooooo much better- You teach me so much -

I was in love with the color but I would choose the b+w over the color now that I see what you have done...

I can't thank you enough except for maybe learning and making You proud:))

Hi Michele!

Well we certainly found something a bit different in this one. I see lots of comments about the beautiful color and the unique and lovely colors found in sandstone are, indeed, something to treasure and show off. I find that is usually done best at a distance since the various striations are more visible and the uniqueness of the sandstone colors seems to cry out to be shown.

That said, your shot here is more an emphasis on the tunnels and grafitti which seem to permeate this particular area and not so much the rich colors. Anytime you want to really show form and/or texture, you normally cannot go wrong with B&W. It just seems to really emphasize texture and form much better . . . losing distracting, although lovely color. Truly a judgement call and I can understand why you called it this way, but I HAD to peek at the underlying texture and forms and was pleasantly surprised to find a shot under this which seems to be one of considerably more impact (IMO). Naturally, I have attached an example to share with you.

I see also that you chose (in this bright light) to use an aperture priority at f/7.1 which was compensated for by a lightening fast shutter speed which virtually eliminated any blur by you not holding still. :) I think you might have been able to tighten that aperture even more and slow the shutter a tad if you wished . . . This way you might not have needed the -0.8 exposure compensation you correctly applied to this one.

Unique, creative and very cool Michele!

Hello dear Michele,
This is lovely. The color is really amazing. I agree with you, it looks like eyes, and if you half close your eyes, you can even see a nose in between. Well spotted and captured!
