What a capture you got here, Dave!!! My, my,my! And the insect looks so big! I have trouble to get a common butterfly.....unless it is sleepy and sits nicely on a flower! What I like most of all is that you captured the movement! Bravo!!!!

Good one, you catch it at the air!!! WOW!!! that is not easy shot, and I know these things are pretty fast and...hahaha....mad when they do there job! So you cannot even focus on them and they change flower!!! Good!!!!

Hi Dave,
It's good that you managed to get this shot. I tried getting some big Bumble Bees in flight a little while ago. It's a lot harder than I thought. :)
I've never seen one of these. Maybe we don't have them around here.

Great shot , Dave! I have only had one chance to get one of these and I blew it! The wing motion nicely blends into the background bokeh!

They are so nice but difficult to catch. You managed it very well, maybe a bit more shutter speed would show more from the wings.
Cheers, Markus

Though the focus is great it somehow fails to define the whole insect in front of the flower background, Dave, though the very biggest part of it is very well defined. What can be the reason for that? Perhaps the wings that somehow flow into the background?

The coloring and the light are so well balanced here that I am not able to suggest anything further.

Best wishes,

Nick

Pretty nice to get a rare catch, I know how hard it can be to sneak up on a butterfly. Some of them are just so jumpy, lucky you caught one that there are few of. It sure has an interesting body. Well done Dave, lighting and colours are good too, as well as the flower in the BG.
