Joggie you have captured this wonderfully, beautiful composition, lighting and subject. This really shows the plant in it's natural habitat, it is the first time I have have this in 45 years of involvement in photography. It is great to see something new!

From the thumbnail it was an underwater soft coral. Its a beautiful flower! Very nice capture!

Yes, too many photos DO sound similar :) :) :)
Very interesting to learn about this plant and how it thrives and then sheds.. what would I NOT gove to be there, in Africa.. with you.. taking pictures till I drop with wearines...
I dunno if I can EVER do that in life !!!!!

Thanks Avi - yes it was taken in Sep 05 but only processed now. I have too many photos (sounds familiar?). The white stones in front was included on purpose. If you imagine the ground covered by a layer of thumb-sized and smaller quartz pebbles for as far the eye can see - that is the Knersvlakte. The plants surviving in these conditions break through the quartz layer after a good rainfall session, grow, flower and shed their seeds within a matter of weeks and then disappear, sometimes for several years until the rain comes again. Looks like an old photo from the time you have signed, but a striking one Joggie.... only the large piece of white stone right at the bottom is distracting a bit..
