Hi Cathy. Great Portraits. I Alwyas Seem To Strugle With Portraits. I Think Its My Crop That Usualy Goes Wrong. Unlike Yours. Great Crop and Composition.

I think it is a great accidental portrait (in other words, you didn't studio shoot this, more of a candid). I like the softness of it, which seems to bother you. But I feel it gives it some great quality for a portrait.

Hey Cathy!
One level of noise reduction with PS elements and vignetting with a filter called Power Retouche...you can find a demo version on the web...use the Radial Density Corrector and slide the Lower Edges & Darken Edges sliders all the way to the right...good luck

Larry, I really like what you have done. It is a far more gentle image than my attempt. I would really appreciate knowing how you did what you did. I have no idea how to vignette but I like how it directs the eye right to the face. Thankyou. CC

What a classic beauty Cathy and a superb candid portrait with perfect post processing...dunno what else I'd do to this..I did tinker with some softening and a little vignetting...lost the frame in the process although it's probably better with it....see what you think

Cathy, I am unable to edit that, that I have already posted but this image has potential. Much depends on your knowledge and ability to use Adobe Photoshop (if you have it!).
Using a reduced image,(such as the posting here) it is almost impossible to do justice to an image that has already been manipulated.
Adjusting photographs can be a lot of fun but you need to know how, to get the best results. You must use LAYERS for each adjustment where possible. This allows you to go back and readjust if necessary.
If I can help further please email me, I'm no expert but have been using PS for some considerable time.

I'm not too sure what exactly you want but here is an adjusted copy.
First adjust with levels in Photoshop to 0/1.00/194 then increase brightness and decrease contrast to your liking.

It looks the same :) The original image quality is not helping...your sample doesn't improve much from the original; I think softness is more potent for this particular situation!! I might be wrong!!!

Thankyou for taking the time to work with this image. Your results are far more gentle than mine. I guess taking it under so low lighting and enlarging it so much has taken its toll.
I tried putting a painted effect on it but I don't know if it is an improvement or not. What is your opinion?

Hi Kathy, I like her expression and composition angle very much; quality wise can be improved using Levels, and noise reduction with the PS.
