Peter -- Overall the color and texture have some visual impact but the picture is too "busy" and the framing/cropping looks like it is the result of a random event; in other words it is weak. Try cropping a portion of the photo (about 25 percent of the total frame in a square format. Include the dark diagonal branch moving from lower left frame to upper right frame and see how it looks. This assumes that there is enough detail in the original image to sustain a significant crop. --Best regards, Jan
Peter, I know exactly how you feel - if only somebody would tell me how I could improve on my photographs...! Well, this particular shot is nice, but, I suspect you already know it's not altogether wow-stunning. So, why would this be? IMO, it's because there are too many leaves, repeating the same shape, the same colours. I have come to the conclusion, by looking at other photographers' really stunning images, that, if one can't say it with one, two (or more) wouldn't do the trick either. Similar objects are acceptable, it seems, if they form a an artistic arrangement of some sort. I battle with this concept too - easier said than done. Your image is pleasing on the eye, nevertheless, lovely colours, contrasting well with the blue sky.
