You're very welcome Moayad. I think it is easier to look critically at work that one has no emotional investment in.

I kept so many pictures that were absolute rubbish for many years. I have now ruthlessly edited them (thrown them all away) :))) and have nothing of note to post to the group. I am in the process of taking many new pictures and the first batch of processing is under way and I hope to post something soon. A rebirth if you like... renewed interest and trying to unlearn all of my bad habits developed over many years.

The value of this excellent group for me is that this is the largest group of photographers that one is likely to meet at any one time. The standard of work is excellent and the ideas and talent here are a wonderful resource to plug into. I look forward to seeing your next work Moayad. I will be happy to comment on it if I can find anything useful to add.

Cheers!

Jeff

Thanks Jeff, This is really useful ..

As I said before, the towers were not my main subject that day. I'll start posting the pictures I took that day of the old bulding I told you about. Make sure to take a look at them and tell me what you think. AndI will take more pictures of the towers as soon as I can.

And yes, clouds are rare in Kuwait . We have a short winter and spring so it is sunny most of the year. But the weather is very nice this time of the year.

Hello Moayad. I guess that choices are a central issue here. The wider angle view gives you a smaller image and you can see the tops of all 3 spikes. I prefer the context that it offers. I would lose the vegetation in the right hand corner or perhaps include more of the ground and some people to get an idea of scale and complete the context.

The cloud formation is still visible if that was the main reason for taking the picture. How rare are clouds in this part of Kuwait? I worked in Saudi Arabia for a couple of years and never saw a single cloud. :) The globe on the left of the picture is obscured in either view and it seemed to me that walking a small distance to your left would have 'fixed' this issue. I know next to nothing about DV cameras so I cannot offer useful comments there. The quality of the light in the middle east is very intense and your polariser does not seem to have helped display that.

Fitting one is OK but they need to ideally be turned for best effect and of course pointed at 90 degrees to the light of the sun. If they are not used in this 'ideal' position then their effect can be very much reduced. If you have easy access to that area and are considering reshooting this scene, I think you could plan the shots instead of taking them when you are in a hurry. Different times of day, different positions and different focal lengths.

Cheers!

Jeff

I was on my way to shoot some old buldings in Kuwait city when I saw the cloud formation behind the towers, so in a hurry I stoped my car in the nearest parking and took this shot without leaving the car. As for my camera, it is a digital video camera which also take digital stills with a memory stick. And guess what .. this shot WAS taken with a polariser :) ..

Here is another shot I took with a wider angel which I didn't like..
I think I should go and take more shots of the towers, what do you think?

This is a nice picture Moayad. I have never been to Kuwait so have not seen this structure before. Did you actively choose where to stand? I ask because the centre spike slightly obscures the left hand globe. Moving a little to the left would have given you a clear shot. Was the camera a video or a digital camera? I don't know the model mentioned and wondered if there are polarising filters for it. A polariser would have lifted the sky a made it a bit more vibrant. Another benefit would be that it would have suppressed the duller reflections on the windows of the globe at the top of the spike on the right.

Cheers!

Jeff
