About On the last day in Patagonia, the storms were brewing but we were not going to wait and see what happens next! we were flying out that day in fact, an hour from the time this shot was taken. The drama was at hand, and we put our preflight time to good use by driving around the vast Patagonia landscape. Following the holes in the sky that left these luminous patches of dappled light throughout the valley, that we happened to be exploring.

thanks for the spelling on vignetting .... heh...not my strong point. And yes it is the fall there and i was drinking copious amounts of water everyday...and not much was coming out the other end. When it rains the ground is dry within minutes after the shower stops. This area is know for hurricane force winds as well. On my monitors the grass is reddish brown...just for reference to what the real color is there at this time of the year. Just got off of the plane after flying for 24 hours so i am off to bed...ahhhhh.

hi Kess,
The cokin is not big enough, (vinyeting)...the Lee is 4x5 (no vinyetting, plastic)
I like the effect that Lee filters create better then cokin by far. You might want more then one as they do scratch. I seem to use the 2 stop all the time both hard and soft.

Excellent lighting contrasting the sunlit ground with the approaching dark clouds, Tim! The rainbow and a couple of birds a bonus!
Dave.

Super natural "lines" leading into the shot, Tim, here from the diminishing sage (?) plants. Nice bonus rainbow in the distance!

I need to order some kind of nd grad!!! Soon! - the 77mm hoya polarizer just doesn't quite work with the 18-200 at 18mm...

Are the Lee filters you mentioned made of glass? i believe they are 4x4 or 4x5? Also am thinking about a Cokin nd kit...lol, decisions, decisions..
