Great!!! I love these buildings, same architecture but 'cutted by there colors, beautiful differents about the how high is the window and very nice the contrast between a well paint and care building and the other at the left that looks a bit.....ruined from the years...

I hadn't noticed either the yellow on the left or the lamp on the right until I read your comment John, I was far too busy looking at the fine details in this shot like the patterns made by the door studs and the refleclions to be seen in the windows.
Now for a little nit-pick,though the colours are bright the light is a little lack luster, I just wonder if adjusting the levels might give the image that little bit extra thats missing at the moment. :)
Walsaw looks to have some very interesting buildings and I really must find the time to visit some day!

Many thanks, Hugo. I think that with the comments from you and Doyle I may be able to pull something out of this one. I had put it to one side for several weeks as I was in two minds whether to upload it. Now I'm glad I did.
Re the saturation: I did boost it quite some and felt that maybe the house on the right was already beginning to look just a bit too bright and shiny.

Hi AJ,
I think the image by itself is very well captured; the level of detail seems to be extremely high, and it's a "neat" image, as in no real disturbances, and a very clean / high image quality - quite impressive!
The contrast does make an interesting theme, and an appealing image, too.
So far only praise; on to the nitpicking. Even though the weather seems to be less than favourable, I still think the grayish hue in the heap of snow in the foreground could use just a tad more brightness. Also, I think boosting the saturation just a notch; especially in the wall on the right might even increase the contrast between the old and the new face.
Anyway, both nits are fairly unimportant, and I think it's a very fine photo.

Great comment, Doyle. I'll click on the "Good" rating in case that triggers something somewhere in the mysterious depths of UF.
And as usual you pick out things I hadn't noticed. Hadn't spotted that intruding porch light on the right, or the overexposed snow on the window sills. Just checked the original and the crop was very slight - that porch light is sliced through the middle there also.
I was pleasantly surprised how the pile of snow came out since as you can imagine the light down in the street was very different from that high up on the buildings. There was no specific work on the snow.
I did adjust the overall colours a little and wondered if the result made the building on the right just a little too shiny. But now I'll see what I can do with the snow on the window ledges and remove that pesky lamp...

Ok John . . . just so you know I agree that the contrast in this image is a great subject . . . colors . . . old v. new . . . window v. window . . . porch light v. porch (uhhhhh) . . . looks like you cropped off the right side porch light? I'm guessing its inclusion would have thrown off the compositional balance since the windows are well placed in as much as they pull the eye but lie equidistant from the edges nearest their placement in the composition.
Since it is a CC image the detail I will mention is the overexposure of the snow on the window sills . . . not that it detracts from the image but perhaps a slight 10-20% burn (and opacity adjustment) might have toned down the pure white a tad. The snow piled in front is a great accent . . . Did you do any burning at all there? - I ask because I see no similar issues in the foreground like the ones in the windows.

Many thanks for your visit. Yes, I was in Belgrade and found the town to be as wonderfully friendly as always. I didn't expect to be staying long this time, so only took a small camera, but I'll try to find time to process what I took and upload a couple of shots. In any case, I'll be back at the end of the month.

Jan: oops, haven't been here for a while and forgot to check all the boxes when I uploaded the image. The original ISO setting I stated (1250) was wrong - it was in fact 200. Well spotted - I'm glad someone else actually reads all that stuff and thinks about it!
