Thanks Mary. Sometimes it´s good to keep an eye out for little details like this letter that really tells a lot about a person, a society, nation and not the least about us people in general. Take care

Dear Meg We are also slowly starting to see traces of this in some cities in Denmark. Her words only spell it out clear that we must avoid ghettos, branding people, putting them in mental boxes that they can´t escape from. Thank you very much for your comment. Best wishes Annemette

Yes indeed I know about Maslow and his pyramid of needs that I´ve actually used in an assignment:-) Yes, the feeling of security and love is such a fundamental need. Just think about the monkeybaby that didn´t go to eat, but went to the fluffy warm toy to seek warmth and security. That says it all. I can do very little to change the situation of such a poor and courageous girl, but the least I can do is to spread her words. I often feel guilty and also fortunate about having such a good life when I wittness how many people live in poverty and are victims of hunger, crime, disease, illiteracy, suppression and so forth(sorry if I misspelled some words)The worst part is that so few people are able to get out of that soup of poverty that has been the identity of the family for generations. Still all children should be given the chance to do so. Thanks for some really good and thoughtful comments, Jan. You have no idea how much I appreciate them. Best wishes Annemette

So very sad that our cities are going this way, even here in the UK it's the same with gun crime and violent attacks becoming an everyday thing. I don't begin to know the reasons or the answers to this, but I do so hope that this child realizes her dream of peace in our towns and cities.

I wonder if anyone in Compton besides you read Corina's plea for peace and safety. A number of years ago (1943) a psychologist named Abraham Maslow classified human needs in a hierarchy; this became known as Maslow's Need Model. Corina is just asking for the an elementary level of fulfilling her needs. Very perspective of you to capture this and well presented. --Jan
