Joe -- Great capture of the mood as well as of the fact. The part that really impresses me (beside the color, the composition and the scene itself) is how you kept the foreground detail so well in the darker portions of the picture. Subtle but definitely there for all to see.
--Best to you, Jan
Need to give you extra credit for being out there to take this picture! :)

Thanks very much Alain for your detailed, informative comments. Very much appreciated.
The image is essentially as shot, not cropped. I had to do some pp work to correct lens barrel distortion and to level the horizon which I always seem to have off level.

All the best.

Hi Gary, Thanks for all your comments. I like the cold, you just have to be dressed for it and don't stay out too long. Years ago, early in my career, I spent some time up north. I remember landing in Inuvik when it was - 50C. That was cold. So cold that it hurt to breath and a cloud of ice fog permanently shrouded the community.
All the best.

Hey Joe,
nothing bad here...this is the one I prefer. Usually a lot of sky and less foreground in this type of image. You did the contrary and I think it's great. An eye for detail too...even tough the weather was unhumanly cold you took the time to carefully frame it. Or resize it once home ;)
The twines in the foreground lead our eyes to the tree stumps and from there further on into the shot. You just have to look the whole picture thrue. Looks simple but isn't!!! And you did it :)
So from the Belgian jury we "reward" you with a 7+
Great job!

Hi Joe. I like this one too. Those little broken reeds sticking out of the ice/snow give this good depth. It sure does look cold though! I was out for a little walk this morning under the full moon. It was only -19°C. I think I've forgotten what it's like to be really cold! Cheers, Gary

This is beautiful Joe. I gather there'll be NO coming shots of bikini clad women? LoL! You captured some lovely color and I, frankly, feel like my office cooled down just looking at this one!! LoL! Nice work!

I think it is good. Nice colors. It is not easy to take pictures and get the right exposure time by snow captures. Well done.
