Hi Doyle, Thanks for your input. I have to saw, I like the cropping you've done but I prefer the colour in my shot. I did not play around with the saturation levels. I may have used a "scene effects" setting when I first uploaded it to my computer last summer but I don't remember. I do agree that the image isn't as sharp as it could be. Cheers, Kara :)

Kara this is a great idea on the composition. To my eye - the color is too heavily saturated and that's detracting from what would otherwise be a nice study of this flower. The DOF is working to help isolate your subject here . . . but the color overrides the image so that there is no isolated subject. The echo of the color on the edge of the leaf is a great accent . . . and it appears to me that the focus is on that more than on the blossom immediately behind it - though that might be due to the highly saturated purple. I would also suggest either including the lower flower completely or cropping it out . . . to help the composition along.
That DOF gives you an almost 3D feel for the image . . . :)
