Robert,
Go out and rent both before you buy. 2 reasons I have the D200 is frame rate and weatherproofing (I have shot in the rain more than once). The new S5 covers weatherproofing (D200 chasis) but still has a slow frame rate (2.5 frames a sec.). None of the Nikon cameras will match the Fuji for dynamic range though.
Lets keep in touch; terry@SPAMsephotoimaging.com. Be sure to remove the word "SPAM".
Cheers, Terry

Terry, It's interesting you have an s2 and D200, for some time now I have been researching, the D200 and the new Fuji s5 trying to decide which one best fits my needs being that it is time to move up to from my s2. By the way, your b/w portrait it outstanding! Back at you Robert

Robert,
I've found the S2 a great studio camera. Under tight lighting conditions it creates spectacular images. Outside the studio it's not as strong as my D200 in many ways(i.e. build quality and focus speed). I wouldn't give either camera up though!
Cheers, Terry

No Terry I have not, overall I have been very pleased with my s2 images. I work in the pre press/digital imaging field running high end scanners for the past 18 years so I am VERY picky about my imagery.

Have you had problems with banding in the blacks/blu-blacks of some of your images with your S2?
