Something really nice about a coffee/tea mug and the relaxed comfort it brings...:) Like the effect also the blue and red colours of books, screen and mug... touch of yellow as a warmer and your away... Love the composition...

I love the way the lights in the monitor gently fill the background, and as Jan says, the sweet spot is quite small, so I'm guessing you used f/2.8. Sometimes to get the sweet spot even sweeter I'll add a dup layer, sharpen that, and then add a mask to remove the sharpening from the blurred bit. With a soft brush you can do it quite unnoticeably...if thats a word :) Looking forward to more :)

I am getting the 3G. (In for a penny, in for a pound). Like you I decided to wait on the macro but I did order the wide-angle/tele adaptors.
I can't wait. Unfortunately I have a bad week ahead of me and will not "play" until the weekend.
No doubt my first photos will be shooting mugs and art objects just to learn the ropes.

 Good for you Jan...which did you get? Jeez, I'm excited for you! No add-ons, I was tempted to order the macro accessories also, but...figured I should get used to the lens before complicating things.
Thanks for looking, glad you like. Maybe not the most interesting shot but, I thought I would share my first attempts.

Robin - I couldn't wait; I ordered one. It is coming today by UPS. Looks like the sweet spot is very small so I'd guess f2.8. Did you use any add-ons to take this or just the LB? I did not order the macro accessory.
