Such a beautiful monastery and with an interesting history.
I have been on vacation in monasteries twice which really gives the soul a rest and lifts the spirit high.
Happy that you got to go to such a place like this.

Very interesting shot, Srna!The history of this place must be something to hear about more!Rather overexposed, but one can still see the buildings inside and the mixture of architecture!I believe the sunlight must have been very strong! But you saw something that not so many manage to see and through your eyes, we feast ours too!

Excellent, dear Srna. I was there in 1969 (?) The Muslim mosque was added to prevent Bedouine tribes from robbing the gold inside the monastery. It did not do much good, nor did the fortified gates.

Arone, zahvaljujem puno na tvom komentaru :) Prava je cast kada neko sa tvojim kvalitetima pronadje u mom radu ono sto mu se dopada :) Neki sledeci put ces pronaci mozda i neke lepe planine na mojoj fotografiji, ali na ovoj sam primat dala ovom interesantnom istorijskom zdanju na sred Sinaja. Interesantna je i prica kao i istorijske cinjenice vezane za ovaj manastir. Katarina je bila zena Egipatskog faraona i proklamovala je hriscanstvo jos neke davne 1400 i neke ... sto je njega jako naljutilo ... njene mosti su pronadjene gore u tim brdima, kao i 7 glava njenih sledbenika i mudraca, te su kasnije prebacene u sam manastir gde se i danas mogu videti ! Interesantno, zar ne?! Srdacan pozdrav i sve ti najbolje zelim :) Srna

Zanimljiva fotografija Srno! Dobra kompozicija, mada bih ja voleo da vidim jos malo planina iznad manastira! Malo mi smeta stena u levom donjem cosku, ali ne smeta ukupnom dojmu! Lepe su boje, uskladjene su na najbolji moguci nacin! 7

Interesting perspective. Looking at the size of the windows and doors, I can only imagine the monumental size of this building. Very good idea to bring some colour with the trees, it makes it look not so arid,
