Thankyou Leonie for all your lovely comments. Is there any way we can show Dave your photo? I have not seen a trace of a live cicada since the hatchings. Our preschoolers usually have them all around the classroom-not one in sight to photograph. CC

Cathy, just read Daves comment... Have a cicada in my portfolio... Alas, not in the wild but on a white board... The cat was lying on this poor specimen... LOL She rather enjoys the vibrations we think...:)

Cathy this is funny in the sense that we haven't had the cicada hatchings or song down here at all this summer... May be the drought... Oddly enough it is noticably missing, so does that make us a little mad maybe..~~GRIN~~
Love the triangles created here and the crop... Gives a nice *light* space as it highlights the cicada... :)

Dave, I hate to tell you this, you will never find a cicada if you are looking for a shell like this, it looks nothing like the real thing. Its like a butterfly cocoon is nothing like a butterfly. I will go on a New Year hunt to find you one. (it shouldn't be difficult once preschool term resumes, they are the fascination of 4 year old boys, and the classroom is usually full of them.) CC

Very cool. I don't think I've ever really seen a Cicada... heard them enough but never reallly seen one. Darn things shut up when you go looking for them. Now at least I have a mugh shot of one.
