Hi Tim, Are you then setting the color temp or adjusting the Auto to +/-3 ? All my play so far has been with the Optimize/Custom/Saturation - Enhanced, which works pretty well for landscapes but not for skin tones...!
Also, are you using a lens filter? Nosy, aren't I? :) Kes
p.s. no 18-200 here yet either. :( Your results with the 12-24 are spectacular, congrats again!

Ahhh one more thing Joggie, the battery power does not last as long as the D70 by a long shot. If you are off shooting away from your charger for more then a day i would suggest a spare battery. I understand that the D200 is even harder on batteries then the D80. I will get around 500- 700 shots per charge depending on how i am shooting. and way less in cold weather...guess you don't have that problem...lol

Hi Bill Thanks for the coments As to the D80 I have shot over 2000 images with it so far to great effect for me. I think that Nikon has done a great job of improving on the D70 with more fine tunning ajustments in the menu as well as much better auto focus and metering. The larger screen is a bonus too. the one thing that is not as good as the D70 is the battery power. You might need a spare for more then a day of shooting away from the charger. Other then that it is steller! Oh yes my images from Argentina that i posted are also from the D80 i just forgot to change it from being labled as D70 in case you wanted to see more of what the camera can do landscape wise.

Hi Kes, This is not saturated....straight from the camera. But i did have the white ballence set to warmer tones which i find helps for snow shots

Hi Joggie thanks for your comments they are very much apreciated. As to the D80 it has been performing wonderfully and not as heavy physically as the D200. The price was right as well. I find the new menu has more to offer over the D70 as is the viewing screen. The metering and auto focus is also fantastic. I think you be very happy with it as a upgrade from the D70. I have shot close to 120,000 images with my D70 and it is still going strong, it is a good work horse not easy to replace.
Cheers, Tim

Great foreground, DoF, composition and clarity. An outstanding landscape with excellent balance between the dark areas and highlights. Congratulations Tim - outstanding work. (your opinion on the D80? I am currently trying to decide on an upgrade from the D70 - either the D80 or D200, the latter being very expensive while I'm not sure how the D80 compare in quality. This image thoug, has done a lot to persuade me of the D80 as a choice). Kind regards. Joggie
