Thanks very much for the support John. Some find it a pity... Some see it as almost an honourable place to be retired. :) Andre

Thanks again Nacho, I'm glad you like it. If this car was in Cuba, it would still be running today :) This car has been sitting there for almost 37 years. Andre

Hi Marcus, I have to admit, I don't really stumble on these cars. Most of them have been in the same place for years. They are not going anywhere soon, so I can go back for more any time. They don't get up and fly away like birds do. So that's one big advantage :) Andre

wow how do you stumble across these vintage cars just lying around in the woods, I really find it amazing as that car here would be taken and restored by someone, it really makes for a excellent shot though as the metal against the woods makes a nice contrast, very appealing...

Shelby, I'm not 100% sure, but I think they were only produced for sale in Canada. There are a few other models of USA cars that were changed slightly and given different names for the Canadian market. Mechanically they are about the same car. Andre

Hmm, I've never heard of a M.M. but I wonder if it was fast for it's time, with a name like that. I have a friend who has a Falcon & it is a pretty cool car. Thanx for the car info & posting the picture.

Thanks Nessa, It is really interesting how many people feel some sort of sadness when viewing images of old abandoned cars. Only natural I suppose. We must associate the styles and shapes with the cars of our parents. Then the nostalgia starts flooding in. This one has been sitting there since 1970. If you look closely you can make out the year on the licence plate. ps whenever I get shots of old cars, or new ones, I always make a habit of changing the licence plate numbers. Andre

Hi Kes, I did a rough calculation they other day... This car has been in that spot for 36 years. Based on approximately 7" of forest floor covering every 36 years. The poor thing will be completely covered by the year 2222... give or take a few years. :) Andre

Its sad to see so many of these old land yachts end up in there old age rusting in a field. EXcellent caputure of a classic old car! Colors and contrast are amazing. (I think the color of the car adds to this a bit). DOF is great overall a 7++

Hi Andre,
This old boat appears to be floating on the pine needles. The inclusion of trees in the background adds mystery to the shot. Well seen!
My kind of car! :) There's some good chrome there...

Thanks Allen, I do know for a fact that this was the fanciest, city slicker car that a local farmer ever owned :) I'm not sure he loved it more than his pick up trucks though :) Andre

Thanks Andrzej, You noticed that this car is slowly merging with nature. I just did a calculation. The car has been there for 36 years. The forest floor has grown up to meet the middle of the axles (about 8 inches of solid needles, leaves and earth) At that rate, by the year 2222 the car will be completely covered, waiting for someone to dig up and put in a museum. Thanks Jacques, I'll keep taking these shots as long as I find them. This is a good time of year for it, when all the leaves are off the trees, they are easier to find:) Andre

Hi Dave, I think I like this one (composition wise) better than the tractor image next to it, because of the lack of distration in the surroundings. The forest in the background cooperated nicely for me in this shot without getting in the way of the main subject. I like the contrast too. It was actually taken in the spring though, so they are the year before leaves. Andre

Hi Ray, Sad and proud at the same time... When you say there is a "kind of beauty" about the car, I'm glad, because that's the way I feel about all these old cars. The early 60's was a great time for "decorator" car colours :) Andre

Hi Shelby, Thanks for the visit and the comments! It's always nice to here from someone new. The car is a 1962 Mercury Meteor. It was the next step up from the Ford Falcon in size. In Canada, it was Mercury's version of the Ford Fairlane of that year. (sort of mid size for the early 60's) My dad used to have a 1960 Falcon wagon. One of the first cars I got a chance to drive :) Andre

The Baby Blue keeps its style and façon Andre, hope I'll do as good when retired. Seems like she's merging down to nature a bit every year but stil lure with luster, with the shapes and colors not many resisted to notice in past and hail straight up "Wow, you're looking good tonight Baby Blue". Please keep reporting Andre, Cheers, NJ

The erstwhile pride and joy in someone's life many years ago my dear Andre. How sad that they eventually get to look like this. Wonderful detailed composition my friend with excellent tones to it. There is still a kind of beauty about this car Andre.
This is not a bad colour, for I remember my first company car that was allocated to me from the pool. I had no say in the matter as I was suddenly elevated into a position that warranted my having a car. D--n thing was bright yellow and my colleagues used to refer to it as a bionic banana on wheels:) :) My very best wishes to you as always.......Ray:)

I know what you mean about the colour of the car Fadel :) It was a pretty popular colour back in the early sixties for family sedans. People used to match their cars to their house colours back then in the suburbs. :) Andre
