About This image (5612) was shot near the Pike Place Market on 27 July 2006.

I have played around with the levels to get the colors and tones just so. I can post the original if anyone is interested.

Jennifer - Thanks for your (repeating, hehe) comments. I don't think anyone else, you know, got this photograph. Or if they did they didn't let on. So I guess it's just you and I that are enjoying the glimpse. It's a tricky shot to pull off well. I'll let you know if I get another that works.

the title is quite fitting. when i read it, that is exactly what i expected to see...it is quite erotic, just a glimpse...that symbolic idea of bliss. i really like the concept. i think you handled it very well, i am quite drawn to this image, i keep peering at it, hoping to see more.

Andrea - Thank you. My photograph Jellyfishy also makes good use of levels adjustment. This photograph is actually a picture of a woman in a skirt (you can see her leg poking out of the hem at the lower left).

Hi James,
I see what you mean about the similarity of the toning using just the levels. I have done it both ways. What I like about using the colour balance bars is how easy it is to get nice rich earth tones out of a B&W shot.

This one is interesting. Is it a close up of old iron work on a fence or gate?

Shirley - Well, ok then. I really like this kind of shot. The knowledge that we carry with us tells us something about what we are seeing, but there is nothing there but a suggestion draped and shifting.

There is this story about Ram, Sita, and Laksaman (god, nature, and earthling) are walking single-file down a jungle path; occassionally Sita moves just a bit to one side or the other and Lasaman can see Ram--that is to say that occassionally nature steps aside and a person gets a glimps of the divine (mystery).

I like the posted photo, James, with just enough of the middle light to make a mystery.

Aliihsan - Thanks. Well, then you'd probably really like the original. I actually worked to bring out that light in the middle. Check it out.
