Excellent details and I love the white horse peeking out to the darkeness. The veins in his face look strained and the angle of his ears do speak something is amiss (probably the camera in his face) :) but he seems to be holding in emotions and perhaps tears. Well done!

Ralf-- this is a great portrait with good range of shading, detail and I like the way you have cropped it. I assume you used post-processed the photo for the background. Not sure the horse really looks sad but then.... you were there and I wasn't. Most beautiful.

Beautiful animal and effectively done. I have a similar of a prize-winning bull at my scenic-route.com, under photos, rodeo. You have a great pose, and very nice detail, here. It's just right.
