Can't see full panoramic size, so can't tell if the soldiers are saluting or have their fingers in their ears :) I think that the cropping is good Ashley, really emphasises the power of the cannon shot.

Canada has a richer military tradition than one might imagine, and I think this shot captures that perfectly. From what I have read, Canadians are a tough lot in the trenches. Cheers, and thanks for sharing.
P.S. Next time if you get the chance try and negate the anachronistic structure in the background left.

Well done to you on gaining a richly deserved Staff Choice award for this composition which you captured at the optimum moment. I think the panoramic format suits it very well indeed. Well done to you Ashley. All the best, 'see' you again sometime......Ray:)

A good shot well presented with the panoramasize. It would also be interesting to see a close-up on the people behind the canon and their expressions:-) Best wishes, Annemette PS: Thanks for your kind comment.

j,
Thank you for your suggestion. I was trying to decide how narrow to go, a touch more would not hurt.

I think it's a very nice presentation perspective! I personally would have even gone a tad narrower (without eliminating the high smoke screen) I also think it's a very nicely timed capture. Great job! -john
