About This man's clothes suggest manual labour, and he certainly looked tired enough. With no-one next to him to lean against he finally woke up when he slipped sideways and overbalanced as the train braked.

love the feeling of this shot it has that intimate voyeuristic impression of viewing in secret. And your image being reflected caught in the act is yet just another layer to enhance the energy of the moment between you both. Superb shot...a fun and wonderful series Roger

Hi, Ciprian. The "grain" is digital noise. It was taken at 800 ISO, and Nikon has quite visible noise at that setting. I have since found a good way to get rid of such noise... but at that time I still hadn't. As for voyeurism, I think opinion are mixed on this one. In Japan, no-one gives this kind of thing a second thought, but in some provinces of Canada it is illegal!

I do like this, as it does show us a slice of real life in sub-urban Japan, but I cannot help wondering if there's a smidgen of voyeurism involved? Just wondering.

I mean... I would hate it if the subject was me; is it ethical to take shots like this?

Back to the technical aspect of it, why so much grain? High ISO?

Thanks and regards,
Ciprian

Life, even when less than stellar (like mine at the moment and no, you don't want to hear about it!), is still SO much better than the alternative...

ok, that is so creepy, those guys. ICK. i can honestly say that i am STILL creeped out, years later, by those gropers. YIKES!! it DOEs serve them right.

yes, the tiresome things of wherever you are living tend to float to the forefront sometimes, don't they?? ah - but life is still good. :)

You beat me to it, Jessie, I hadn't spotted that. By the way, did you know that men occasionally suffer from gropers in Japan? I had one uncomfortable experience some years ago... They are getting very strong against it these days, and lots of guys are getting prosecuted. Serves them right. Sorry you had so much to put up with, Jessie. Kind of takes the shine off, huh?

bwah hah hah. are you discounting the drool? just kidding. i don't like the gropers. i don't remember the japanese word for it, but i had plenty of experience with them. awful, awful. my commutes (from 45 min to 2 hrs) were an exercise in patience!

Thanks, Jessie. But why don't you like sleeping on trains? I'm sure you'd look MUCH nicer than this...
