El General Francisco de Miranda, quien trajo he izó por primera vez en su buque?insignia, el "Leander", en la rada de Jacmel (Haití) el 12 de marzo de 1806 como parte de su expedición Libertadora. La Bandera Nacional está formada por los colores amarillo, que representa toda la riqueza de nuestro pais, azul, que representa todo nuestro inmenso mar caribe, y rojo, que es la sangre derramada por nuestros patriotas de la lucha de independencia, en franjas unidas, iguales y horizontales en el orden que queda expresado, de superior a inferior y, en el medio del azul, ocho estrellas blancas de 5 puntas, colocada en arco de circulo con la convexidad hacia arriba, que representan las 8 provincias que firmaron el acta de independencia.

The National Flag is formed by the colours yellow that it represents the whole wealth of our country, blue, that represents all our immense sea caribe, and red that is the blood spilled by our patriots of the fight of independence, in united fringes, equal and horizontal in the order that is expressed, of superior to inferior and, in the means of the blue, eight white stars of 5 tips, placed in arch of I circulate with the convexity up that you/they represent the 8 counties that signed the act of independence.
Nicely done Juan . . . a proud image of a National symbol. The symbol of every nation evokes pride (one hopes) from its citizens and this image is a respectful one which can remind us that, whatever country we call home, we're not really so very different after all! Well done Juan!
